New Harmony Pottery is a small home based family business established in 1991 on the homestead of Russ and Jackie Leckband near Earlham, Iowa. Here you can still find stoneware crockery handmade in the style of the late 1800’s, interspersed with new designs. Each piece is made by hand on a potter’s wheel, decorated and fired in a kiln onsite.

Following our interests in history and folkways, we met while working at Living History Farms museum in Des Moines, where Russ was an apprentice in a small historic pottery shop, and Jackie was involved with quilts, textiles and the pioneer farm. We learned much about simple living, history and hand arts while working there. In 1991 we were blessed to establish our own business, New Harmony Pottery in the small rural community where we live. We are grateful for all the encouragement and inspirations from family, friends, Bear Creek Friends Meeting and the wider community along the way!

As New Harmony Pottery is made and decorated by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike. Each item has a character and vitality of its own. Variations in color, shape and design add to the charm of each piece.

New Harmony Pottery is:Lead free,Dishwasher safe,Suitable for oven and microwave use,Useful for serving as it retains heat or cold,As with any glass or ceramic product, avoid sudden temperature changes, such as from extreme cold to very hot.

Each handmade mug is tan with green trim and a hand stamped design.  Each mug also says "Iowa State Fair 2006."  Enjoy your very own set of Iowa State Fair history!
