New Harmony Pottery is a small home based family business established in 1991 on the homestead of Russ and Jackie Leckband near Earlham, Iowa. Here you can still find stoneware crockery handmade in the style of the late 1800’s, interspersed with new designs. Each piece is made by hand on a potter’s wheel, decorated and fired in a kiln onsite.

Following our interests in history and folkways, we met while working at Living History Farms museum in Des Moines, where Russ was an apprentice in a small historic pottery shop, and Jackie was involved with quilts, textiles and the pioneer farm. We learned much about simple living, history and hand arts while working there. In 1991 we were blessed to establish our own business, New Harmony Pottery in the small rural community where we live.
